I just caught up on this thread.

Petrol at our local Morrissons is £1.29.9 a litre, so not much saving in Andorra. Diesel's £1.37.9 a litre... outrageous.

Still, if the place you're tootling round is only 181 sq. miles, you don't need much petrol. Except it's mostly uphill there, isn't it?

However, if they all speak Catalan (which even I have failed to penetrate with my exquisite Castillian), you also need much alcohol to console yourself in the mountains there.

Should have asked him for 100 kilos really.

A Kilo should last me over 6 months. I don't drink alcohol 3 or 4 days each week, and often go several days without a smoke without thinking about it. I have never been allowed to smoke in the house, except over 25 years ago, and even then cigarettes weren't allowed. She could always tell the difference, even the next day. I find that if you are pissed all the time, you can't appreciate the wonderful feeling of being completely sober.

Not bought one, but rented a small place to use as a base for the meantime - not officially leaving here yet, am going to go back & forth for a year or two, get to know the place better (and the people) and see what everyone else wants to do.

2 double beds, one bath, top floor of a modern block. Decent view. Reasonably close to the gondola (ski lift). Not bad.









It's ok. I wanted it to be a little bigger but it's in a good location and is well kitted out. Will do for now.

You can buy studio flats from about 80,000 euros and pay into the millions for houses with a bit of land.

Looks nice.

I do think you should reconsider & locate yourself in Monaco, then we could meet for a beer now & then.

I do realise that real estate is rather pricy in Monaco though...

Beyond my means I'm afraid. And I think I prefer the mountains to the coast anyway (plus Barcelona and the surrounding coast is only 2 and a half hours drive away if mood dicates).


As it happens the lunatic brain surgeon is moving from Monaco to Andorra as I type. He says he would rather bring up their new baby up there.

Nice thing about this part of the world is that we have the mountains and the coast.

Hence "Alpes Maritimes'...
